PRICELESS!!!!

Mackenzie and Zach are very lucky little people...I mean how many other great grandkids can say that their great grandmother (who is a week shy of turning 94) knows how to play Wii??? We went to Grandparents day over at Lulu's nursing home the other day, and one of the many activities that they had set up was a Wii with several different games to play. With Lulu not being able to do much, we decided that the best game for her would be Wii bowling. It took a little coaching, but soon she was rolling a spare! It actually made for a really sweet day! It turns out that just a couple hours before these pictures were taken Lulu was in her bed not feeling well at all. My mom had called her to make sure that she knew that we were coming to the special day, and Lulu actually told mom to call us and tell us not to come because she was sick and didn't want to do anything. Mom then told Lulu that I was planning on bringing Mackenzie to Grandparents day and Lulu without skipping a beat said "I'm calling the nurse right now. I"ll be ready when she gets here!" Mackenzie doesn't know it now, but she is really making her what time her Great Grandmother has left with us, extra special to her!

We have a CLIMBER!

The other day Zach decided that he needed to see what was going on in the kitchen, so he found himself a nice place to "stand" and watch! Oh boy! He has no fear:)

Pullen Park with Skyler

Mackenzie and her best friend Skyler both start preschool soon, so Wendy and I wanted to get the girls together one last time before then. We met at Pullen Park and had a great time doing everything! The girls rode the train, the boats, the merry-go-round, and feed the ducks. We then had a great picnic lunch before riding the train again. Here are a couple picks from our day!

Mackenzie makes everything better...

Last week, I was at my parents house with the kids when we found out that a very close elderly neighbor had passed away suddenly. This kind man was everyone's Grandpa...whether you were related to him or not. I had known him for over 30 years, so it was a truly sad day for me. Cathy came over to mom and dads house shortly after she heard the news and when she got there she was upset. Cathy just shared what happened next with me, so I wanted to share because it brought tears to my eyes...

Mackenzie..."Aunt Caki why are you sad?"
Cathy..."I'm just a little sad today"
Mackenzie...thinks for a second and then says "Well do you want a hug? Hugs make people happy."

Somehow a 3 1/2 year old knows how to make a 28 year old all better:)

Visiting with Lulu

Aunt Cathy and I took the kids over to visit with Lulu today. She was so excited to see them. Mackenzie was a real chatter box with Lulu, which really made Lulu smile:) Boo told her all about the shark we saw at the beach, and then she shared her stickers with Lulu. I'm not sure which made Lulu happier, hearing all Boo's stories or having a TON of stickers plastered all over her hands and shirt:) Lulu was also able to see Zach walk. She was very proud that her youngest great grandchild could walk so well. Here are a couple pictures from our visit with Lulu!

Zach's first big person dinner

Now that Zach has 6 teeth, we are introducing new foods to him almost daily. Here is a picture from his first all solid (not baby food) food dinner! He did awesome. So far, we haven't really found anything that he doesn't like:)

Zach has pool hair!

I gave Zach a mo-hawk one afternoon after I had a little left over sunscreen on my hands! I couldn't help it....but isn't he cute with his pool hair????

Mackenzie and her drawings

Mackenzie has really been into drawing our family lately. Here is a picture of her family on her magna doodle! She will spend a lot of time sitting at her little table doing any sort of art project...I think she must get that from her great grandma Lulu:)

July 4th Beach Trip

Boo had a great time splashing in the ocean this beach trip! With a little help from Uncle Charlie or Daddy, she would jump the waves and laugh and say "I want to do it again...again!"

Zach wasn't to sure about the whole sand/water thing at first. But, after a bit, he seemed to really like playing in the sand. I guess he wore himself out, because as you can see in the picture below, this is where he stayed the rest of the morning at the beach!

On the 4th, we spent the evening in Wilmington, down on the waterfront. We had a nice dinner and then walked around the waterfront waiting for it to get dark so we could see the fireworks. The kids did AWESOME!!! Mackenzie loved all the colors of the fireworks, while Zach seemed to like all of it..noise and all!

We had a great time at the beach with Auntie Marie and Uncle Charlie for the July 4th holiday!

First visit to the dentist

We took Boo to the dentist for the first time day, and as you can tell in the pictures, she wasn't happy about it! We took her to a pediatric dentist, and she was really nice and very patient with my terrified little girl. Since this was Boo's first visit, they had her sit in my lap and lay her head on the dentist's lap. She wouldn't open her mouth, and SCREAMED like she was being tortured, but by the end, she had settled down. And wouldn't you know, as soon as the dentist was done and told Boo that it was time to pick a prize out of the treasure chest, Boo was saying "I like princess paint and the dentist!" Oh, and princess paint is the fluoride the dentist "painted" on her teeth (they do this since Boo is too little to swish the fluoride).

A new place to nap

Zach has a new place that he likes to take naps! I guess I can't blame him, he looks pretty comfy:)

Race For the Cure

We made our annual trip to the Race For the Cure this past Saturday. And, as tradition goes, Boo had a "customized" shirt for the event. However, the heat must have gotten to me, because I didn't take a front and back picture of her!!! Oh well, next year I will remember! Once we were down playing in the mist tent, which was Boo's favorite part of the morning, we made our way over to the Survivors tent with Meme, and then walked around a little more before heading home. One, day, we will actually do the race:)

Boo driving???? YIKES!!!

Let me start at the beginning...Chris and Kristy hosted Easter at their house again this year, and while we were there Boo was able to drive Thomas' truck around their yard. Well, ever since then anytime Boo sees one, she says that she wants one. A few weeks back we were playing in the toy store and she saw all the motorized cars. She spent half an hour going back and forth from each car, checking them out. Again, all she talked about was how she wanted one. I told her that she couldn't have one b/c there is no room in our garage for her to have one and have her big play house. I then told her that if she wanted to sell her playhouse to some other little boy or girl and take that money and buy herself a car, she could. She agreed and said she would sell her house. I dropped the subject for a few days, and then the Fisher-Price catalog (better known as Boo's magazine) came in the mail. She found the page with the cars on it and without prompting she said "Mommy, I can sell my house and buy this car..ok!" So we did...I was a little worried what would happen when we actually SOLD her house, but she did great. We sold it last week on Craig's list and gave her the money for it. She did great! She didn't get upset at all about her house being gone (thank goodness)! So on Friday afternoon we went to the toy store to buy her a car. She picked out the Black Escalade and LOVES it! Here are a couple pictures of her driving Zach around!

Aunt Nancy comes to town

Aunt Nancy came to town last week for a visit, and it was so nice to see her! Before she had to go back home, we were able to meet for lunch so she could see the kids. Mackenzie was so funny when I was trying to explain how Aunt Nancy is Meme's sister she kept saying that "Meme's don't have sisters...she just haves Dubs!" She eventually got it thought:) Hopefully we will be able to visit her soon and go to my favorite place in the whole wide world (ok, next to Target) The World of Coca-Cola!!

Another visit to Jumping Beans

About 3 weeks ago, we have really started working hard on the whole potty learning thing. Boo has done great...only 3 accidents in 3 weeks (she is still wearing her diaper at night and during outings). As a 'reward' for popping in the potty we went to Jumping Beans. She loves this place! There weren't too many kids there on the day we went so Boo pretty much had the run of the place. They even have a little bounce area where Zach was able to play. This was his first time playing here, and he had a blast.

Our little boy is growing up...

Zach has started eating solid foods (other than baby food) and started drinking from a sippy cup recently! He does really well drinking water from his cup or even holding his own bottles. We have also slowly started introducing solid food to him in the past week. In these pictures he is eating his first Bojangles biscuit! He loved it...and did so well feeding himself. I also tried giving him real banana but he didn't care for it at all. Can't wait to see what is on his menu next week!

Zach and his bath

Zach LOVES bath time! Here are just a couple pictures for you...I just love his expressions!

Little Pool

We bought the kids a little pool for the back yard and they really love it! Zach is such a water baby! He would spend all day in the pool if I let him! Boo had so much fun showing Zach all our pool toys and showing him how to splash! Hopefully this weekend we will finally make it over to our neighborhood pool, but judging by how much fun they had in the little one...I think we will be spending a bunch of time in both pools!

Another great trip to the Zoo!

On Sunday, Boo and I went to the Zoo with Meme, Dub, Uncle Chris, and Thomas. We had such a great time! It seemed like all the animals were out and very easy to see. Boo didn't even need her "binnococolars" to see the "rhinaanasseras" (also know as binoculars and rhinos). When we got to the zoo, we kept asking Boo what she wanted to see and all she would say was she wanted to see the monkey's poop (like on our last visit)! She is so funny! Here are a couple pictures from our day! A big thank you to Meme and Dub for our great trip!!!!

Mother's Day Tea Party with Lulu

Last week, we went to the Mother's Day Tea at Lulu's nursing home. Mackenzie was so excited to dress up and wear her "tea" hat. When we got there, Lulu did not have her hat on, and Boo was not ok with this. She told Meme "We have to get Lulu's tea hat because this is a tea party and we wear tea hats to tea party's." So after Meme and Boo went to find Lulu's tea hat, she was ready to eat:) Zach had a great time just hanging out in the stroller flirting with all the ladies!
